Everyone knows SHINee’s Minho loves soccer! Despite of his busy
schedule, the idol always takes the opportunity to play or watch soccer.
The rapper of SHINee is indeed known for his love for soccer since he
was a kid. Born as the son of national soccer coach, Choi Yun-Gyeom, he
is already familiar with the soccer world.
He had also shown his love for the sports when he went on a holiday
to England on variety show “SHINee One Fine Day”. He willingly took a
train for hours from London to Sunderland, for the purpose of watching
the match between Sunderland and QPR (Queens Park Rangers), which at
that time was strengthen by South Korean soccer player, Park Jisung.
Moreover, he also has soccer abilities that are on the same level
with professional soccer players. His abilities were acknowledged by
national soccer player Lee Young Pyo who saw his play on SBS’s variety
show “Cool Kiz on the Block”.
“Minho has passion, skills and soccer sense. He is certainly today’s MVP player,” Young Pyo said on one episode of the show.
Due to his abilities, he has many opportunities to play soccer. He
was one of the players in the “Asian Dream Cup 2013” match, against the
Hong Kong national team. The singer was also selected twice as a captain
for soccer matches on MBC’s “Idol Show Athletic Championship”.
Unfortunately, playing soccer was merely a hobby for him, because it
appears that his father did not allow his son who was born in 1991 to
become a soccer player.
“My father said a soccer player life is really tough, that’s why he didn’t want me to experience that,” he explained.
However, Minho who is known to be steadfast, often plays soccer with his friends.
“I regularly play soccer with my friends, when I have time,” said the
idol who claimed that he had slept for two days because he was too
exhausted from playing soccer.
